Well, it is official. I am completely, 100% screwed in the bank account. There were some unforseen events this week. Therefore, besides getting work immediately next week, my entire record collection is for sale (with the exception of my Cursive stuff). Almost all of it is on colored vinyl, rare pressings, etc. Email me if you're interested.

Ah, once again, Fridays have a meaning in my life! It's been quite a while since I've felt anything for a Friday. And they even sent me home a little early! Not much, but hey, it's Friday.

I'm getting really sick of junk emails. Spam if you will. I just got an email from HalfBakedGigolo, with a few letters missing here and there. I swear it's the only email I get anymore. Porn or some sales thing. I'm sick of it I tell you. Someone email me something good. I don't care what it is. Maybe I'll even talk about it on this here journal if it is something good! Oooohh!!!! Oooohhh!!! Email me, Drumerge@aol.com. It's now a contest. A contest that will fail miserably I'm sure, but hey, it's Friday! I'm giving such great motivation, aren't I? A dumb "contest" that offers no prize! I really know how to work an audience.

Alf's real name was Gordon Shumway. I knew that. I didn't cheat. Are you forgetting who I am? Don't test my powers.

Day three back at work. Hot. Hot. Man, working is not fun. Did I mention it was hot? You know what has kept me going all week though? The fact that on Monday, around 12 o'clock, the radio station played "Sister Christian". Thats all I needed. 'Nuff said.

I watched Primal Fear for the first time last night. I thought it was pretty good. Ed Norton is a damn good actor. I think that's his first movie? I actually sort of predicted the ending to that movie. Not to toot my own horn, but, toot toot! After that I watched a little bit of a documentary on the making of The Shining. I don't know if I have ever mentioned it on the blogs or not, but the little boy in The Shining, well, that's me. Okay, so it's not, but he looks EXACTLY like me. It kind of freaks me out a little. I hadn't seen it in awhile and had forgotten how much he really looks like me. Especially when I was little, obviously. I have had other people tell me that I look like him too. It's kind of freaky. The wierdest part of it all, his imaginary friend in the movie is named TONY. wooooooooooooooooo. scary.

I've created a charity auction for Tim Kasher. I put a couple of rare Cursive records up on eBay.

The Storms of Early Summer: Semantics of Song (220 gram solid white vinyl, 1 of 200 made)

A Disruption in the Normal Swing of Things (second press, Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes wearing mask on cover) and bonus Small Brown Bike / Cursive split 7" on green vinyl.

Help out if you can.

Austin Lindstrom - 1:13 PM

Dammit. The news regarding Tim Kasher isn't good. Cursive has cancelled the remaining U.S. dates, and Tim is undergoing surgery. If you'd like to send a card or donation (Tim doesn't not have insurance), send it to

I'm not a religious man, but I'm 100% certain that this is the 7th sign of the Apocolypse. ALF to host talk show. As if Jimminy Glick wasn't bad enough. Read the article, theres a short interview with ALF. They even mention his real name, which I bet not even Tony "Action" Thaxton can remember.

week two of the tour journal is up. i'm watching 1979 from the smashing pumpkins on mtv2. awesome. that is all.

Tim Kasher, the lead singer / guitarist of Cursive and the Good Life has suffered a collapsed lung. Read about it at SaddleCreek.com. Theres not much news yet, but Tim could be on the shelf for a week or a month.

Anyone who knows me knows that Cursive is my favorite band. I've had the pleasure of helping out with some shows for them, hanging out at O'Garas, and MCS even got to play with them last fall in Texas. Its not too often you get to share a stage with the that band inspired you to play music again.

Feel free to post a "Get Well" message for Tim on the Saddle Creek board here.

God speed in your recovery Tim.

Time 2:44 am. I just finished the new site design. It turned out o.k. There are some spots that are supposed to be seamless, but to no avail, i couldn't get the frames to match up. Oh well, it will just have to do for now. This is still just a temporary site until my good friend Jason Dickman gets our official site up and running. You should check out his previous work at www.disquietdesign.com.

Josh and I are going to take a road trip down to Chicago on Saturday. We are going to see Blink-182 and Green Day. My friend's band The Crush are opening up at that show. The Crush are sooooooo good. If for any reason you don't know who they are, you should check them out at any chance you get. We got backstage and photo passes, which is sweet since i am a photographer. I can't wait. I actually like all the bands playing. I haven't seen Blink-182 since i roadied for Jimmy Eat Word when they played together at the Palace in L.A. That was like 6 years ago. Blink is way better since the new drummer Travis joined a couple of years ago. Should be a blast.

I think i am going to try and sleep in a little while. Goodnight.

Ah, the joys of working. In all honesty, with the exception of the heat, it wasn't THAT bad. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't fun, but it's at least tolerable. My feet hurt pretty bad by the end of the day. I hadn't done that much walking in quite awhile. I have that really annoying sensitive "my legs were rubbing together all day" rash kind of thing going on tonight. I hate that shit. I know you wanted to know that.

I just watched most of Silence of the Lambs. I had not seen that in quite some time. I had honestly forgotten a lot of it. It's a lazy night, I debated on going to rent some movies, but I don't even know if I feel like taking the energy to go and rent them. Chuck and Buck came on IFC last night. I had been hearing it was good, and it came on last night, and I decided to check it out. The bad part was it came on really late and I was getting really tired, and unfortunately, the tv in my bedroom does not get IFC. And like a fool, i missed the last 45 minutes of that movie. I was enjoying it and everything. I'm just a moron I suppose. Hopefully they will show it again soon and I can catch the rest.

Jesse, good luck on the sleep. Try sweating your ass off in a warehouse, I think it will work wonders for my sleeping.

Todays celebrity birthday, Elizabeth Hurley is 37.

INSOMNIA UPDATE: I went to bed at 4:45 am and was still awake laying there when the sun came up. Boo. Now, after a couple hours of sleep, Josh and i are going to go look for a radicool new piano to add to my stage antics. Wish us luck.
Jesse Johnson - 1:35 PM

To quote the Fresh Prince, "Ok, here's the situation..." Since getting pulled over by a lovely Minnesota State Trooper on my birthday last week, i have been out of a job. You see, i am a delivery driver. The officer informed me of the fact that my drivers liscense is not valid = i have no job. So all i do is sit at home on my computer, sit at home watching MTV2, sit at home watching movies, go to the theater and watch movies, and eat, eat, eat. I'm bored. It's 4:00 in the morning and, as usuall, i can't sleep. I would love to, but if i lay down i will just roll around sweating the night away. So instead i am watching MTV2 hoping that the new Jimmy Eat World video will come on. It's way cool. I just saw the Hives' video and it rocks too. Speaking of videos, you should go to www.idlewild.co.uk and see Idlewild's new video. If you haven't heard of them, they are one of my favorite bands from abroad in the uk. Another good band that is from Iceland is mum. The two girls in the band are twin sisters. Way cool.

Well, wouldn't you know it, the Jimmy Eat World video just played at 4:17 am on MTV2, here in good ol' Minneapolis. The best part is that in the video Zach (the drummer) is sitting on the edge of a nice fluffy bed while he is playing drums at a huge concert. Sweet. I put out Jimmy Eat World's third 7" seven years ago, and it is great to see where they have gotten with all their hard work. I can't wait to see them in august with The Promise Ring, whose new album also rules. Anyway's now that i have conquered M2, maybe my eyes will stay shut for a couple of hours. Good night.

P.S. Wish Tony luck at work tomorrow. I'm sure he's bummed.

It's back to the working man's schedule tomorrow for me. First time in two months. Am I excited about that? No. Am I in need of paychecks? YES. Did I mention it is an unairconditioned warehouse? The temperature forecast for my first three days, 92, 95, 96. Fun, fun, and more fun.

The weekend turned out to be alright. Last night I was invited to go to a cookout held by the boys from Peru(the band, not the country). That was a good time chatting and yucking it up. Some delicious shrimp kabobs prepared by Mr. Eric Zirkle I might add. Today, I dropped by my good friend and former bandmate Matt's house to hear his newest musical endeavor. A Metallica(early stuff only) cover band. Their name, The Band That Should Not Be. I think they are trying to make the ultimate preparations and play a big Halloween show once it is time. They sounded pretty good. I'm anxious to hear what else they have up their black sleeves. After practice, Matt and I enjoyed some all you can eat CiCi's Pizza. They're pizza's even better than the price, you know. Then it was off to hear our good friend Mr. Curtis Fye tear up some upright bass downtown. He was playing with a jazz trio called Boots of Leather, in which they play Velvet Underground tunes, basically converted to wierd jazz tunes. Interesting, wouldn't you say?

Ugh. I should sleep soon. Work.

crazy. i spent the entire day playing/recording music. jt from attention and chris from twintown recorded music for my friend matt's movie and i finished off a guided by voices song that was meant to be completed earlier this year but got put on the back burner due to scheduling conflicts, etc... the gbv song is "my valuable hunting knife" and it sounds crazy strange. it is a perfect mixture of motioncitysoundtrack and attention. hopefully it will go on the comp that is being put together as i write this. if not, i'm sure it'll get thrown up on a web page. i'm beat and need sleep. here i go. lucid dreams, everyone.

another night of wonderful work for myself. I love this new denali record. I was so unhappy when i got home from work. i put on my itunes music on my computer and now i feel much better. i think i am going to do some ben folds next , a perfect way to get my my mind set to start working on the demo of our new song. We did the drums at jeremy tappero's studio and now we are going to finish it off in my apt using protools. It should be fun. i know i am super random but shit that is the way i am. nite.nite.
