holy nuts! i just got back from my friend matt's apartment. we watched a movie called "where's marlowe?" and it ruled completely. we also rented "six-string samurai" which i plan to watch in the near future. it looks frighteningly kickass! in other news, i worked for 5 hours today and listened to the newest weezer album several times. i totally dig it. i have nothing interesting or boring to say, so i won't. except that "wild man blues" is on ifc right now. woody allen gives me a gigantic smiley face.
I should be out enjoying the weekend, since I start up working again on Monday, but for now, I'm here doing a whole lot of nothing. I need to figure out some plans. Unfortunately, most of the people I know are out and about with previous plans. Hmm. What to do. It has been nice catching up with everyone since being back though. I've got a lot I need to do. Thankfully, I will be recieving paychecks again soon. The next step for me, unfortunately, is to sell my car for a cheaper one. I just don't think I can afford the payments I have right now on my lovely Corolla. I'll sell to the highest bidder that bids really extremely high.
I actually went to see Undercover Brother last night. I was making fun of that movie at first, but then some of the previews were actually making me laugh. So we decided to check it out. It has its moments. Nothing great though, not that I expected a whole lot. It's got some decent stupid laughs though. Much more of a rental or wait until it comes on cable movie though. Ah well, who cares. I could hardly say "one for Undercover Brother" without laughing when buying my ticket. I would have to say my favorite part of the movie, would be when the dumbass in the movie theatre's cell phone rings, and he actually answers it and talks EXTREMELY LOUD to whoever the idiot on the other end is. That was certainly the highlight for me.
Todays celebrity birthday, Jerry Stiller is 75.
I just received the new split CD from Cursive and Eastern Youth (hope you know Japanese). Its simply amazing.
Cursive has gone completely off the deep end, and they just get better and better. Eastern Youth actually make me think of a Japanese Cursive. I wish I had a clue as to what the songs are about. The bands complement each other very well without being "samey". Oh, you might remember Eastern Youth from the At the Drive-In / Murder City Devils tour a ways back. Come to think of it, Cursive opened that show here in MN. Hmmm...
In other news, I am having friends over tonight to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

I'm back in Richmond and been slacking on the blogs. I landed in Richmond Tuesday night at 11:30pm. It's always a nice feeling to get back home and sleep in your own bed, even if you ARE away having fun elsewhere. But we're not touring right now, so it's time for me to come home and work. Did I say I have to work? Eww.
So it turns out I am going to be going back to my old crappy warehouse job. When i left that place to go on tour in April, I wanted to wanted to walk out, and not go back. But unfortunately, I am in need of some money, badly. So, Monday morning, I go back to the grind. Thankfully, at the 9am start time, not my old 7:30 start time. Thats too damn early. Only grandmas are supposed to walk up that early I think. I'll be getting paychecks again soon, and I don't have to wake up as early as I once did, those are the two things to be happy about working again. Other than that, boo hoo.
I had my first real night of big fun back in Richmond last night. I went out to a benefit show downtown at Alley Katz with my new friend Jessica. We witnessed the Richmond debut of Rockbot. I know all the guys in that band, most of them used to play in a band called Sau. I was anxious to see them play, I had heard a few songs before because I played drums on a couple of songs for their demo. They sounded pretty good. They have a girl in the band who sings, does punches and kicks, and has nunchucks. Yes, thats right. Apparently, she does stunt work. Seriously. The wonderful Peru also played, they are always a treat. The last band of the night was a Devo cover band. I was scared a little bit before they played, I thought this could either be pretty cool, or really lame. Thankfully, they pulled it off pretty well. They even had the outfits. The sleveless turtlenecks and hats. It was a good night though. I ran into a lot of people i had not seen in awhile. I found myself repeating the same stories over and over all night long, because everyone was asking me how Minnesota and MCS are doing. The words "crazy", "house of blues", "sold out", "moist towlette", and "swedish beef batallion" were said quite often.
Okay, I'm off to the weekend...

Tony's gone for three weeks to see his friends get married in Virginia. Boo hoo poo poo. I already miss the bastard. So does my cat, Kitty.
I just got back from seeing Elvis Costello play a free instore performance at a small record store. He completely blew me away. I've seen him before at a small spanish theater in Louisville, Kentucky a couple of years ago with Steve Nieve on piano, but this was different. He played guitar to a drum machine and sampler. That may sound lame to some, but it was magnificent. It put a whole different spin on arrangements and the feeling of songs. He closed with a version of Waiting For The Detectives that was super duper great. To put it in the words of Justin, "I got like 10 boners at once." Then i got to meet Mr. Costello and have him sign my original press of My Aim is True on Stiff Records with the green cover instead of the later Columbia pressing. Also signed was the original version of Armed Forces with the different fold out cover, postcards, and free 7"single inside on Radarscope Records. Record nerd alert. And i was like weeeeeeeeeeeeee!
5:03pm
traffic was a kick in the shins. an hour to get from stillwater to minneapolis. had a very productive day though. bought food enough to last me until the next paycheck, and paid for a backlash of late fees at hollywood video, and exercised for the first time in a week while watching woody allen's "take the money and run." debating wether or not i want to join austin for dinner with holly and tiffany. hmmm... talking to cain on the phone... tony recorded drums at polydactile for a new song we had written during his stay. we plan to finish it with pro tools later this week. i need food.
advice for the day: when all else fails... kick it in the nuts.
Apparently Austin is dying for me to give up my celebrity birthdays, because he wants them so bad he can taste it. Video game codes? Come on, really?
Quite a busy day today. Got up early(early for me lately) and had breakast with the band. I enjoyed about the only thing I ever eat for breakfast, if i have brealfast at all, hash browns. After the hash browns, we headed off to Valley Fair where i screamed my ass off on a couple of rides. Some rollycoastas if you will. Anyone ever been on Chaos? Its quite a decieving, violent ride. However, I recommend it. I had been one it at Valley Fair's sister park, Cedar Point. Which I highly recommend also. The sad portion of the day, (but the highlight for my celebrity-craving), was when we went to the magic show of Ed Alonzo. You may remember him from the early days of Saved By the Bell. Remember how they all hung out at The Max? Well, the first few years there actually was a Max? Then he mysteriously disappeared after a few seasons, with no explanation, yet everyone still hung out at The Max. Anyways, we got the impression that ol' Ed doesn't seem to happy with life anymore. I have to say I felt kind of sorry for the guy. Rough crowd, which he acknowledged, jokingly, yet, not jokingly. But I do have to say, his magic was pretty lame. I wanted to be impressed, but...nay. Better luck next time. Best wishes Ed.
Jesse and I just returned from Big V's to see Riddle of Steel(from St. Louis) and The Tide. Good show. Good rock. Good times. My second BIg V's trip in 3 nights. We were also there and Saturday to see The Stereo. Anyone heard the new Stereo record? I think it's quite good. Check it out.
Heading back to Virginia tomorrow, after we lay down some drum tracks for the demo of our newest "hit". Early rising again for me tomorrow. Then I'm off to the airport, and back to Richmond. Not for long though. I'll be back in a matter of weeks. And before you even ask (like everyone else), I have to go home for a wedding. On that note, I'm off to bed-futon.
June 3rd celebrity birthday, Jesse Johnson is 25.

Not much to report on today. There was a celebrity birthday in the band, but some jackass didn't report it.

advice for the day: enjoy yourself... repeatedly.
I was pleasantly surprised at the turn out at the show tonight. We finally sold out of our first CDEP, "Back to the Beat".
After the show we ate at Chino Latino. I had a deep-fried Snickers bar. Next up: deep fried sticks of Crisco.
